A logo/sign that I volunteered to design. My only stipulations were “simple, lots of colors and put a butterfly in it”. Well, there you go. A lot of my art has been very minimal and text based lately. Is this a new era for Jessen?

I have known of this documentary for years, but dismissed it [as I imagine many others have] based on the fact that, well… it’s about Helvetica. The font. I finally watched it last night though after hearing rave reviews, and it was actually very interesting, informative and often quite funny. Even if you aren’t a [...]

Pedigree Dogs Exposed: A documentary
This documentary will break your heart in the first five minutes. It has some very disturbing scenes of very sick dogs, such as a Cavalier King Charles born with a brain too large for its head. Dogs being one of my favourite animals, it was also enraging for me. It’s about [...]

I also watched an exciting documentary today… “The Century of the Self“…it’s about the rise of psychoanalysis and its social and political [...]

Drawn with the ink tool and brush tool in Paint Tool Sai. I love this guy, might redo him with real ink and brushes. I used a reference photo for the face:
I realised that I like drawing animal people far more than regular people. You can be so much freer and more creative with animal [...]

Before buying things, I almost always try to find out if I can make it myself first – because its more rewarding to do, and usually a lot cheaper. Today I searched “DIY artist’s paint”, “create your own paint” etc. on google, and came up with almost nothing except for this one great site:
http://www.paintmaking.com/studio.htm
It has [...]
